Five years & Jessica's 25th

On July 1, 2012 Travis & I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. It's crazy how we have grown up together in those five years. We've gone from football games, dances, goodbyes before curfew, and high school graduation--to--starting college together, moving to Lexington, moving into our first apt together and graduating college. I'm so thankful that we are still as in love today as we were when we fell in love back then. Travis is my other half, my best friend and soul mate, and I would be lost with out him. I'm so thankful he still treats me with the same amount of love and respect as he always has. I truly love our love. I'm o glad we get to spend forever together.

Later in July we celebrated my sister's 25th birthday. We went to a new restaurant downtown called Shakespeare and Company...who's decor mirrors that of a huge tea party. Afterwards we headed to parlay to keep the celebration going. Jessica's boyfriend surprised her with Gigi's which is always a super yummy surprise!

THE Dress

One thing I didn't share in my "Catching Up" post is the exciting news that I found THE dress this summer. Yes, my wedding dress!!!

It's still hard for me to believe that my wedding dress was the FIRST wedding dress that I had tried on.  Being the girl in high school that tried on dress after dress going from store to store to find the perfect homecoming, sweethearts, and prom dresses i still find it amazing that I got my wedding dress on the first try. (I did try on just a couple after it, but quickly put THE ONE back on.)

I absolutely LOVE everything about it.  Having it on I could NOT stop smiling. It was exactly what I wanted.  I kept looking in the mirror and trying to picture Travis standing beside me. <3

A girl thinks about her wedding day her whole life, but it's not until you find the one that it really becomes real.  Five years together--and I finally had on the dress that I would marry Travis in.  It was a crazy feeling.

So now I'm anxiously awaiting the day that I get to wear it to say "I do" to my best friend.  I cannot wait. :)

Catching Up

I've decided I've abandoned my blog for too long! There's no way I can recap 6 months so I'll go ahead and fast forward to this summer.

At the beginning of May I graduated from the University of Kentucky. This was definitely a special day for me.

Our summer was kicked off with a memorial day lake trip to Travis' parents house on Norris Lake in TN. We were extra excited about this trip because it was the first time bringing Lola. She loved it, and we had a great time as well. We were able to make a second trip there at the end of June.

I spent my summer working as a camp counselor. Though the 100 degree days were rough, I definitely still enjoyed my time there with the kiddos.

Travis has been working super hard at his new job with the UK football team while he finishes up at UK.
My first drive-in experience...The Dark Knight Rises

ENGAGED!!

I officially have to add December 17 to my list of favorite dates! After 4 and a half years I can finally call Travis my fiance!!!!

This past weekend Travis & I went home to Ashland for a couple of days.  On Saturday Travis and I were about to go to Travis' family Christmas party, when he said he wanted to look at the Christmas lights around the park.  He knew I wanted to do this while we were there (because we do it every year) so I didn't think anything about it.  We also, took our puppy Lola.  As we got to the corner of the park we stopped and looked at a particular light display.  Travis kept saying, "This is new"...I said, "I know, this is where my favorite one used to be, but this one is really pretty too."  I got my phone out and decided to take a picture of it (coincidentally the only lights i decided to take a picture of ;) Travis was walking me out closer to the lights, and then suddenly he turned to me, got down on his knee, said some sweet, precious words, then asked me to marry him.  I was so surprised!! At that point I just remember saying yes, yes, and repeating I love you!! We were both so happy!!!  It was perfect!!! Travis mom was hidden to take pictures of the moment!

In the moment <3

Sooo happy!!!! & So in love.

Holiday Time

The semester is over and it is finally winter break! Student Teaching begins next semester! I am so excited for 4th grade at Liberty Elementary!

I turned 22 a few weeks ago.  A few pics from my birthday...

Travis surprised me with a BEAUTIFUL necklace :)))

The day after Thanksgiving we put up our Christmas tree & decorated the house! Although this is our FIFTH (hard to believe) Christmas together, this was our first tree :)) My favorite ornament is from 2007..."Our 1st Christmas"

We recently added a new addition to our family! Travis wanted one thing for Christmas and one thing only...a puppy! So, of course I wanted to fulfill this wish. We spent hours and hours straight looking for a puppy and we finally chose to rescue a puppy from the Mercer Humane Society. We are already SO in love with her!

Meet our sweet girl, Lola :)

They said her mom was boxer/beagle mix but she looks JUST like a greater swiss mountain dog, so we're thinking her dad had to be one!

Daddy loves her!

Our family :)

We are heading to Ashland this evening for the Compston Christmas party tomorrow. I'm happy we get to visit our families for a little bit, and introduce everyone to Lola.

Merry Christmas!!!

Hot Summer Days

Summer has certainly arrived.  Lately it has been so hot & humid.  I should probably be thankful that I have to spend the majority of my week inside at work, but I'm not. I LOVE being outdoors. So I try to make up for it by running and sitting outside with Travis in the evenings. Two weekends ago we spent the weekend at Travis' family reunion.  Travis spent his morning playing golf with the boys. We went horseback riding that afternoon, (my first time) it was as fun. Then we had a picnic dinner with everyone that evening.  We had a "snowball" fight with the kids AND adults after dinner (pretty cute game!). Then we played mini-golf with the kids that night. Followed by phase 10 with Trav's grandma.

This past weekend we went home for Travis' parents' 25th wedding anniversary party.  I spent Saturday trying to help decorate. This turned out to be a difficult task since half of the party was outside and rain and wind tried to destroy everything we were doing.  In the end, it looked very nice. And the party itself was alot of fun! I'm disappointed that I didn't take my phone or camera inside the party.  I feel like I'm slacking on taking pictures. I'm taking my phone or camera everywhere from now on! (The photographer at the party,  however, did get a shot of trav and I ((Classic Black Photography)) I spent all day Sunday just hanging out with my grandma before we went back to Lexington.

I can't believe this week is already here, MOVING WEEK! Thursday, Travis and I finally get to move into our new apt.  We have basically been waiting for this day for 4 years ;) We are both very excitied, and happy that it is finally time to move in!

The Weekend of Four!

This weekend (Friday, the 1st) was my four year anniversary with my boyfriend, Travis.  I can't believe it has been FOUR years since we started dating. It was the summer before our senior year of highschool & now we are about to begin our senior year of college together.  We are truly so blessed to have found each other at 17.  He is my soulmate and I love him more than anything! <3 I gave Travis a scrapbook of our fourth year (I make one every year ;) & he got me some beautiful flowers. After work he took me to dinner at Malones, one of my favorite places to eat.  Afterwards we came back home to enjoy some cookie cake for dessert. Then we went to a late showing of Transformers 3, which we both LOVED. Definitely a summer must see!

Travis & I before going out

My beautiful flowers from my boy.

Our traditional cookie cake (Broncos colors of course ;) yum :)

Saturday we went to Georgetown to see some family.  I was especially happy to see my grandmother :)
The rest of the weekend was spent laying out by the pool, watching the Casey Anthony Trial, and working out, of course.  Travis had to work most of the weekend so our fourth of July weekend was different than usual.  We normally spend it on Norris Lake in Tennessee with Travis' family, but we made the most of our fourth here in Lexington. We went downtown and watched the fireworks show there. Now after 4 days off it is back to work today! Luckily, only 2.5 days til the weekend!
